What is an RGB Cable?

An RGB cable is a video cable used to transfer analog video signals from the source to a display. For example, from a DVD player to a television. This is considered a standard component of many home theater set ups. This is especially useful when adding more complicated connections into the mix. For example video cameras, computer monitors, computers, and video game consoles.

This cable is called an RGB cable because of the colors it uses: red, blue, and green. The cable blends these colors using the information transmitted from the source. Using these colors, they are able to get all of the other colors needed for viewing your video.

These cables can support resolutions for HDTVs up to 1080i. They decode the signal which comes from the source and turn it into horizontal and vertical signals.

There are two different kinds of connectors which comes on RGB cables. BNC connectors and RCA. RCA connectors are generally found on consumer electronics and home theater items. BNC connectors are used more for professional uses and are found at TV station, radio stations, and security networks. These have a special locking mechanism which makes them more secure than RCA cables.

These cables can be found at any store which offers home theater supplies. For example, they can be found at Radio Shack and Best Buy. You can also buy them online at those respective stores or on Amazon.com. You may wish to shop around a bit so you can get the best price.
